Aside from being the annual opening event to the European Olympic sailing schedule, the 53rd edition of the Trofeo Princesa Sofía Mallorca on April 1-6 saw the Spanish island also hosting national team selection for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games:
Canada: Sarah Douglas from Toronto, in ILCA 6, as well as the team comprised of Will Jones from Jerseyville, ON, and Justin Barnes from Pickering, ON, in 49er, have qualified to be nominated on Canada’s Paris 2024 Olympic Games sailing team at the 2024 Princess Sofia Trophy Regatta held in Palma, Spain, which served as the second and last event for their Canadian qualification process. – Full report
United States: Stphanie Roble (East Troy, Wis.) and Maggie Shea (Chicago, IL) have officially confirmed their ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics in the 49erFX when they finished 10th overall while their US competition Paris Henken and Anna Tunnicliffe Tobias finishing 9th. – Full report
